Paths were lined with one room cabins...

I often wondered what became of Nova Nada after Irving went through. I happened on this sanctuary back in the early 80's while out driving waiting for a friend to get off work. (This friend also told me drive the lighthouse route it will take you to my place. Wrong! I landed at the lighthouse. I am very good it appears, at following road signs.) We were given a guided tour the following first Sunday.

"No, you write in yours."

Every Christmas I go out and buy Christmas cards. There are usually some unique and funny cards each Christmas. Sometimes, I buy stamps. I get my list of people who I send cards to, and write a note in each. Then set them aside after I write their names on. Sooo I guess that is kind of a tradition I started.

Randi came home and showed me her box of cards she purchased to send off. Nice cards, mine with a stamp was hand delivered, the rest nicely packed in the box untouched. Her first purchased box of cards...still in the box. Oh you are just like me... "No, you write in yours."

Thank Christmas where thoughts count. This year everyone was actually sent, hand delivered by the Post Office, Christmas first day issued stamps and cover envelopes from both of us. The dates, no not 2012 except one, I think were 2009, but were actually put in the mail this year though. How weird is that!

There is a lot of thought going out with my cards, probably why they don't get to their destination. Next years are already planned to come from a special destination, hopefully I will be close enough to a post office with the cards early enough to send them off.

So Christmas cleanup

There is something about Christmas
Something old
My tree top has adorned our family tree for as long as I can remember, as it is the Christmas angel with fibre glass hair that held high on the Christmas trees every year when we were kids, lighting up the foliage of ornaments collected through the years. I asked for this many times, and when mum was auctioning off things when papa passed away, I again asked. No one else thought anything of it. I found it and kept this memory with me. The years of packing and unpacking have worn a few edges bare, but she adorns my trees in her rightly place every Christmas as she did in my Christmases past. We kids gathered 'round the tree with our little doctor kits and  the little round candy pills, watching the Ed Sullivan.Show in Bedford so many years before. Randy with his little caboose train which actually blew smoke, and papa coming home late in the evening from work and waking us up and making his eggnog with cinnamon on top with nanny saying she just got us in bed.

Every year I buy a new ornament. Some tend to be traditional, others not so much. I have more MacDonald's toys as ornaments that are fun hanging on the tree. I think it was Burger King that had a large green Grinch as a toy one year, well he hangs on my tree  with a light bulb in the centre glazing through, I forgot his name, the trademark grin. it remains lit throughout the season.

The tree cloth has the names of people in our family, including cats, and even if they are not here in person, they hold in memory and kept close. I will have to add a few more names as it will be checked twice now. It is about 20 years or more old. Made of simple cloth, but apparently quite durable.

Here is Betty, her name, along with another will be added to the list. Betty came for a visit this Christmas after being away for a couple of years.

Something borrowed

Now it is back to cleaning up, gathering, and remembering Christmas past, present, and futures.
I have more boxes to go through. But not as many as before. Found ornaments I completely forgot about. Yes I keep receipts and finding my brass martini flask and martini glass brass ornaments just reminds me how far I go to keep them. Inside all curled around, and I wondered what it was, the receipt. So I rewound and replaced inside the flask to be forgot about again. So to all Merry Christmas and

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

A new soap to chomp the turkey with

Thanks Randi, I really love the mold. As I kept all her, er, I mean the tooth fairy, teeth now I can remove them from the wax mold we made for storage and put them in the soap.
Well I found her baby teeth today Jan. 6, 2013 while going through boxes to move.
The wax mould has distorted through the years and a couple have fell out but are in a container and some have cracked. (perhaps like some others we know) But here they are some 20 years later.
Now if I could get this to put the photo up I'd be happy.

Hope you have a Merry Christmas

I love a good challenge!

...try and stay healthy.... hmmmm. What other than the flu shot are you going to chuck my way? Perhaps sound waves. Too funny hearing Moody Blues on the radio when waiting in line. A little one (less than a year old),  came in  after I had put down two digests. She look around at the people, looked directly at me and said Hi. Then picked out two more magazines for me to read and placed them in my lap  and  walked back to her parents. Priceless.
